Free online Mindframe training sessions now available
In effort to adapt to challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and limitations accessing face-to-face training, free online Mindframe training sessions are now being offered.
The weekly sessions will run for one hour and commence next Wednesday, 1 July 2020.
The training will cover Mindframe guidelines on the safe and sensitive communication about suicide and mental ill-health, with each session focussing on one of these two topics.
This training is relevant to professionals and students in any field where there’s a need for written or verbal communication about themes of suicide or mental illness. Including for example, journalists, screenwriters, content developers for stage or screen, communications managers in mental health and suicide prevention sectors, communications staff in police and courts, and staff in Primary Health Networks (PHNs).
The training includes the following:
- A brief overview of the Mindframe program
- Information about help-seeking and self-care
- The Australian context, with current data
- Key recommendations from the Mindframe guidelines
- Examples of problematic communication.
There will also be an opportunity for a Q&A with a member of the Mindframe program at the end of each training session.
According to Everymind Acting Program Manager, Sara Bartlett, adapting Mindframe training delivery to the current physical distancing situation is key.
“We’re pleased that by offering online training we’re able to continue to support our stakeholders to have safe and sensitive communications about suicide and mental ill-health’,” Ms Bartlett said.
