Mindframe attends the 30th World Congress of the International Association for Suicide Prevention in Northern Ireland
Suicide Prevention Program Manager, Marc Bryant and Project Lead, Sara Bartlett are heading to Londonderry, Northern Ireland to attend this years’ World Congress of the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) from 17-21 September.
Over the course of the four-day conference, Marc and Sara will be leading two presentations on Mindframe, attending roundtable meetings and networking with key stakeholders in the international suicide prevention sector.
The presentations focus on two aspects of Mindframe’s core work, one on regional approaches to suicide prevention and the work we do in supporting stage and screen professionals to create safe and authentic fictional portrayals.
The first of the presentations will be on Mindframe Plus and regional approaches to suicide prevention in Australia, to highlight the breadth and scope of the Mindframe guidelines, media training and cross-collaboration with Primary Health Networks.

The second presentation focuses on Mindframe’s stage and screen work with people involved in the development of film, television and theatre productions, to help inform safe and authentic portrayals of suicide.
It will also cover the methodology behind the Mindframe stage and screen guidelines, the research presented through an updated critical review on suicide and the entertainment media, along with a case study of our work with Netflix and the popular television series 13 Reasons Why.
